The Australian Shepherd has earned recognition in roles due to their trainability and eagerness to please and are highly regarded for their skills in obedience. A medium sized dog when bred to a poodle are considered to be canine Einsteins.

There are several reasons for mixing the two breeds.
1. It extends the life of the Bernese Mountain Dog by adding the poodle to it, as the Berners have a shorter life span.
2. Although it does not stop the shedding altogether, it certainly cuts down a lot of sweeping time in your home.
3. Some of the pups can actually be hypoallergenic for those of you with dog allergies.
4. It adds strength to the bones of the poodle, which some find helpful if they are looking for a strong service animal.
