KESANG CAMP NOW HAS OUTSTANDING 2018 PUREBRED TIBETAN MASTIIF PUPS
Kesang Camp has been breeding highly functional and beautiful, tight-eyed, purebred Tibetan wolf y mastiffs since the 80’s; breeding for “temperament, size and strength,” without compromising required “speed and agility” for functional livestock guarding and home protection; in our life-long pursuit of consistently producing the authentic “Tsang-Khyi Tiger Head Tibetan Mastiff,” which is larger in size (29-31 in, 73-80 cm); with the shorter, dense, double thick body armor undercoat of the “Tiger Head”; as opposed to the “squatty, cross-bred, long haired, “Lion Head” designer dogs that never existed until the late 90’s!... The new-fangled “Lion Head” hype started in the late 90’s, with Neapolitan mastiff cross-breeding; and in the early 90’s, China breeders were previously cross-breeding Chows with TMs for that typey “lion head” look; and producing scrawny little 60lb mongrels that they were photo shopping to appear bigger; before shipping them off to unhappy customers! That’s when these unethical China breeders started cross-breeding their TM x Chow mongrels with the Neapolitan mastiffs; to begin new-fangled “Lion Head” designer dogs that never existed until the late 90’s!
These new-fangled “Lion Head” designer dogs are believed to be the by-product of cross-breeding’s between Tibetan mastiffs, Chows and Neapolitan mastiffs! They look pretty cool from afar; until you examine them up front and personal! These “designer Lion Heads” are too bottom-heavy for proper breed standard function that requires “proper temperament, size, strength, speed and agility”; with “Lion Heads” center of gravity that is too low and clumsy; slowing them way down to a sloppy, dysfunctional crawl! Just like the “Lion Head mongrels” entropic eyes (from Chows) and ectropic eyes (from the Neapolitans); which prevents the dysfunctional “Lion Head” dogs from being able to see where they are going; not to mention their excessively long hair that obstructs what little vision they have! These “designer Lion Heads” possess a very bad combination of being very stupid AND overly aggressive; combined with their horrible structure that prevents them from seeing beyond; AND their inability to move with “speed and agility”; disqualifying this “cross-bred mongrel ‘Lion Head’ designer dog” from original standard as “wolf-killing dogs of war”!
“In 2016, a study looked at how the Tibetan mastiff was able to adapt to the extreme highland conditions of the Tibetan Plateau very quickly compared to other mammals such as the yak, Tibetan antelope, snow leopard, and the wild boar. The study indicated that the Tibetan mastiff's ability to avoid hypoxia in high altitudes, due to its lower hemoglobin levels compared to low-altitude dogs, was due to prehistoric interbreeding with Tibetan wolves.”
The Molossian dogs of ancient times are descended from the Tibetan Mastiff as are over 50% of our modern breeds. The nomad encampments were invariably guarded by enormous black mastiffs, which were trained to attack and kill men, and are described as being MORE DANGEROUS THAN WOLVES. The smooth/short coated Tibetan Mastiffs were used as for sentry duty and as temple guardians. These dogs are known to have been highly prized by the ancient Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Huns, and Mongols, accompanying them on war expeditions. Ancestors of these dogs traveled with Attila the Hun and Genghis Khan. These large dogs were launched in charges against the ranks of the enemy and used as dispatch carriers. These large dogs were launched in charges against the ranks of the enemy and used as dispatch carriers. Hence, the age-old army order - "Let slip the dogs of war!"
Being a working breed, they are also excellent family companions, loyal and adaptable to almost any family situation! This is a breed with a special affinity for children of whom it is especially protective and patient! It is the character of the Tibetan mastiff; the genetically proven domesticated relative of the Tibetan wolf that makes TMs unique, and a joy to own! They can strike mortal fear into the heart of a stranger with their deep and persistent bark. But to their families they are clowns always ready to play! I adore my domesticated Tibetan wolf y mastiffs!
